Rolson is Our New Valet
Updated: Nov 7, 2020
I was transferred from the Aqualina Hotel and Spa where I was known as the priest, to the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Miami where I had the powerful vision. I love downtown Miami area. Miami is one of the cities in south Florida that I invested so much to help rebuild. The infrastructures of downtown were new and splendid. Since I had left many years ago, I didn’t have a chance to return. I was very happy to be there again. But that time I was not there to work in the construction industry, but the hospitality's.
"Rolson is our new valet." That was the statement uttered when I was being introduced to co-workers. Though I was new at the JW Marriott Hotel, I was not new in the hospitality industry. As a matter of fact, the JW Marriott Hotel was the fourth hotel I worked at. After a quick tour around the property, I was totally ready to start the job.
“These are your lions. They look like you." Some of my co-workers poked fun at me as they compared me to two big carved lions that placed by the entrance of the hotel.
During my eight hour shift, I had to post in the middle of two big carved lions to kindly welcome guests and visitors to the hotel, and it was also my duty to assist them with their luggages and escort them to the front office.
I have always found great joy while serving in the hospitality industry. And my joy became stronger when I came across this inspiring verse in the Bible:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, knowing that you will receive from the Lord the due payment of the inheritance." Colossians 3:23-24 #Jesus
